A big part of Minecraft’s growth comes from its players. The world has grown many times over. We’re talking about mods for Minecraft. Over the last 15 years, a lot of these fun add-ons have been made for the game. We also made this guide to show you how to run one of these mods on your PS4, Xbox One, or desktop if you want to try it out for yourself.
Installing Minecraft mods on Windows
Mods can be made in Minecraft in a few different ways, but the simplest and most common way needs an app called Forge. How it works:
Step 1: Visit the Forge website and download the programme version that is asked for. You can also get the newest version of Forge, but it might still have bugs that make it impossible to run some mods properly.
Step 2: Find a safe place to download the mods you want to add. There are a lot of great mods on CurseForge, which is a popular place to be. On the other hand, not all mods work with all versions of Minecraft or even Forge. Do some study on the mod you want to buy to see if it works with the apps you already have.
Step 3: Make a folder called “mods” in the Minecraft area. The place to aim for is here:
Users[yourname] in C: AppDataRoaming.minecraft files
Click View at the top of the app and then check Hidden Items to see the AppData folder if you can’t see it in File Explorer.
If you are installing Minecraft for the first time, you will not find a “mods” folder in the main folder. Open the Minecraft folder in File Explorer. Then, right-click and choose “New,” then “Folder” from the menu that appears. It should be called “mods.”
Step 4: Put the mod you downloaded in the area called Mods.
Step 5: Open Minecraft, but first, make sure your account for Forge is live. Your changes will only load right if you do.
There you have it! Another mod loader on the internet besides Forge is LiteLoader, which we have already discussed. This way, if you don’t like everything Forge has to offer, you can always look elsewhere. The programme is still the most popular for a reason, though, and most new mods work with it.
Installing Minecraft mods on Mac
Just follow the first two steps of the instructions above if you’re using a Mac. But here are the actions you need to take for step 3:
The Minecraft directory should have a new folder named “mods” on it. This is where you should be aiming:
Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft
The keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + G lets you get to this folder fast. Accessing the Library is likewise as easy as opening Finder, selecting “Go” from the main menu, and then pressing the “Option” key. Go to the Application Support menu first. Afterwards, launch Minecraft.
When you get there, right-click on that folder and choose “New Folder” from the menu that comes up. Name the folder “mods.”
For Mac users, you can now go back to the list of steps above and do steps 4 and 5.
Installing Minecraft mods on consoles
Mods aren’t available for Minecraft on Xbox and PlayStation, which is a shame. Add-ons are what players can use instead. These add-ons aren’t free like mods are, and they don’t let you do as much as PC mods do. They’re still better than nothing, though, and they’re straightforward to set up.
Step 1: Start Minecraft on your device and go to the main menu. From there, choose Marketplace.
Step 2: Pick a Mash-up Pack, Skin Pack, World Pack, or Texture Pack.
Step 3: Buy the add-on with mine coins or a credit card.
Installing Minecraft mods on Android
Sadly, you can’t use actual mods with the portable version of Minecraft. This is similar to the restrictions you find on platforms. You can change how the game looks and works with third-party apps like Add-ons for Minecraft, BlockLauncher, and Mods for Minecraft. How it works:
Step 1: Start by going to Blocklauncher and downloading the well-known and valuable mod-loading app.
Step 2: Do what the app tells you to do. BlockLauncher will give you different steps depending on the device you’re using.
Step 3: Get Minecraft Pocket Edition Mods from the Google Play Store again. This programme makes it easy to download and set up mods.
Step 4: To find the mod you wish to download, use the search box.
Step 5: Upon discovering the suitable mod, click Install. The mod will be instantly added to the game of your choice.
Installing Minecraft mods on iOS
Step 1: Add-ons are the first thing you should do when you start Minecraft. You can quickly grab these from the App Store.
Step 2: Find your add-ons and install them by following the on-screen instructions.
Are Minecraft mods free to download?
Most mods for Minecraft can be downloaded for free. On the CurseForge site alone, there are more than 100,000 mods to choose from, and most of them are free. Most of the time, the only thing you’ll have to pay for is the base game, which costs $26.95 for the Java Edition on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Are Minecraft mods safe to download?
Getting mods for Minecraft is a safe and straightforward process. Make sure you only download from mod sites you know you can trust. Minecraftmods.com, planetminecraft.com, 9minecraft.net, and curseforge.com are usually safe options.
Also, before you add any mods, you should make a copy of your server. You can load up a version of the game that still works if something goes wrong during loading.
