Wireless charging works with all of Samsung’s new products, like the Galaxy S9, smartwatches, and even earphones that are compatible with Samsung products. Just set your thing down on the right pad, and it will charge itself. That saves time and keeps your wires in good shape, but you should first understand how it works. Wireless charging basics
If you want to know how wireless charging works in the most basic terms, here’s how to begin.
Step 1: Make sure you have a Samsung gadget that works with this. For phones, that means you need to have a Galaxy S6 or later, a Galaxy Note 5 or later, a Galaxy Note 8 or later, or a Galaxy Z Flip or Fold model. Galaxy A series phones don’t work with each other.
- For smartwatches, you need at least the Galaxy Watch 3.
- You may charge your Galaxy Buds wirelessly. This includes the Buds 2, Buds+, Buds Live, and Buds Pro.
Step 2: Get a portable charger that works with your phone. As long as it works with Qi chargers, most of them should work with Samsung devices. Newer chargers, on the other hand, are more likely to be able to charge faster. There are also chargers like the Charger Trio that can charge more than one thing at once. For example, you could use this to charge your Samsung phone, watch, and speakers all at the same time.
Step 3: Put your Samsung phone on top of the charging pad with the back facing the charger. Then, plug the pad in. There should be a light on the charger that turns on when it connects to the device. You may need to move the gadget around until this light turns on.
Step 4: Give it some time to charge. Chargers are not all the same, but a steady red or blue light generally means that something is still charging, and a green light usually means that it is done charging.

While wireless charging is easy, there are some things that everyone should know to make it go as smoothly as possible.
Step 1: Some cases don’t block wireless charging, but some do. It will work with thinner cases, but you should check again that the case is placed correctly above the charging coil. Cases that are too thick, like leather or other thick materials, can cause problems. If you put these on, wireless chargers might only work once you take them off. Step 2: Since wireless chargers tend to stay in one place, you’ll need to find a spot that works for you. Some people like to keep chargers next to their beds so that their gadgets can charge while they sleep. Some people like having them on desks or in offices so their devices can charge while they work. Sometimes, the best place is in the middle of a counter or on a shelf in the doorway.
Step 3: Be careful of bright lights if you are charging next to your bed. Some LED indicators don’t really get in the way, but others are very bright and might wake you up if you’re trying to sleep. There is another way to charge your phone when you can only be near a wireless charger sometimes. Most of Samsung’s latest phones and tablets have Wireless PowerShare. It lets those gadgets charge other devices wirelessly from a distance. That means you can charge your device or a friend’s device that’s low on power while you’re out and about. Here’s how to make it work.
Step 1: Ensure that your Samsung phone is charged to a minimum of 30% before utilizing Wireless PowerShare.
Step 2: To get to Quick Options, swipe down from the top of the screen. After that, swipe down again. It should have a picture of a battery and an arrow next to it that lets you turn on Wireless PowerShare. Pick it.
Make sure your Samsung phone is up to date if you are still looking for this icon. To add it by hand, go to the Quick Settings modification. There are three vertical dots in the Quick Settings menu that lead to “More options.” This is where you can find it.
Step 3: In order to charge a device within 60 seconds of turning on PowerShare, place it on the back of the Wireless PowerShare phone.
