On September 9th, Facebook finally released the long-awaited smart glasses. The company has partnered with the well-known Ray-Ban sunglasses brand. Ray-Ban Stories are Facebook smart glasses that can take photos and record a 30-second video. They can also listen to music, make phone calls, and listen to podcasts.

The Facebook Ray-Ban Stories are currently available for purchase in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Ireland, and Australia.  In India, the availability of glasses has yet to be announced. The smart glasses come in three different styles with a variety of frame colors.

There are also several sorts of lenses from which clients can choose based on their requirements. As a privacy feature, there are external-facing LED lights that show whether the cameras are working or not. There is no AR app for the Facebook wearable. It incorporates touch controls for calls, volume, and music playing, as well as temples that double as earbuds.

Ray-Ban Stories comes with a virtual assistant that allows users to shoot images and movies without having to use their hands. Simply say “Hey Facebook,” and it will take pictures.

Users will need to download a separate Facebook View app to share photographs and videos to other platforms. Many other businesses, such as Google, Snap, and Amazon, have already developed smart eyewear.

The Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said,

“Ray-Ban Stories (smart glasses) is a significant step toward a future in which phones are no longer a fundamental part of our life and you won’t have to pick between engaging with a technology and interacting with the environment around you.” 

The pricing of the Facebook Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses ranges from $299 (about Rs. 22,000) to $379. (around Rs. 27,900). The frames are available in four different colors: black, blue, brown, and green.

Regular, polarised, and transition lenses are among the six options. Clear with Blue Light Filter, Brown, Dark Grey, Green, Polarised Dark Blue, Transitions Clear with Dark Green lenses are among the options available. Ray Ban smart glasses are available for purchase on the company’s website. Bluetooth v5 can be used to connect the wearables to smartphones running Android 8.0 and iOS 13 or higher.
