Throughout the year, your office will have its ups and downs. However much you try to always have an up in the office, down periods happen, and it happens to every business. The trick is to try and have more ups than downs, and to do this, you can do various things in the office which will increase morale.
Your budget will depend on what you can do to bring up the excitement and motivation levels. If you have a high budget, you could set employee targets with the goal of a breakaway – you could go on a hiking trip or a beach holiday. If your budget is more modest, you could take your employees out for a meal or offer a bonus if certain KPI’s are hit.
Keep on reading to learn more about three ways to increase morale in the office.
Corporate Getaway
When revenue is high and your profits are looking healthy, this is the perfect time to treat employees and take them on a trip abroad. Breakaways show you appreciate the work they have been doing, and it will help keep them motivated to work hard to get another trip in the future. The cost of a corporate getaway will vary depending on what you are doing and the number of days you are going for. A city break is a great option, or if you want to do something different, you could look into a Camino de Santiago.
Financial Bonuses
It’s simple but effective. If you want to reward your employees and increase morale, offer them a financial incentive. When certain KPI’s are hit, you can reward them with a bonus in their next paycheck. The amount you pay can be set in a pyramid-like scheme. For a low target that’s achieved, you pay them an extra 10%; if a high target at the top of the pyramid is hit, you pay them a 30% bonus. If targets aren’t hit, you can have a lower prize, like a meal out together.
Meal Out Together
Talking about a meal out is something a lot of companies do as a small gesture to say thank you to their team and as a way to increase morale. It’s not too expensive, but shows you are thinking about them and want to reward the work they are doing for you. A meal out could be during the day on their lunch break, or it could be in the evening after work – this is down to preference. You could offer to include partners for this occasion or have it as employees only; this will depend on your budget.
